I’m a writer and the mother of three grown children, including my son Tristan who died from fentanyl poisoning in August 2017. Since then, I’ve advocated for improved addiction and recovery support services and was a peer support group facilitator for Healing Hearts Canada. I currently facilitate a writing circle with the Federation of BC Writers. My interviews have appeared on CBC’s The National, the Vancouver Sun and many local newspapers and radio shows.

I’ve published personal essays in the New York Times, The Globe and Mail, and The Sun Magazine, and was awarded a position at The Banff Centre for the Arts summer writing retreat in 2019. My upcoming book, Here With You: A Memoir of Love, Family, and Addiction has been published by Douglas & McIntyre in September 2023.

I fund my writing habit by working as a content strategist where I help large organizations improve their customer experience by improving their words. I live in Metro Vancouver with my goldendoodle, Phoebe, and cat, Nala, where I spends hours each day walking through woodland trails, trying (and failing) to live in the moment, and imagining answers to the question, “What now?”
